Myringotomy is a surgery by which we remove fluid/secretions accumulated in middle ear space.

It is insertion of a ventilation tube to prevent further accumulation of fluid in middle ear.

Its a daycare/one day admission procedure.

Done under local anesthesia with or without sedation.

For small children we may need General anesthesia.

  • It will relieve middle ear pressure and remove accumulated fluid.
  • Improvement in hearing.
  • Prevention of future complications of middle ear disease and hearing related problems.

It’s a small procedure so patient can join his routine in 2-3 days with some precautions as per prescription.

Nothing major. Revision/  repeat procedure may be required in long term.
