They built it together—Americans, Japanese, all the former enemies. A tower of mixed bricks, each color representing a different uniform, a different side, a different story.
At the top, they placed two figures: Tanaka and Sato, frozen in their moment of choice on the bridge.

Tanaka knelt beside her. "To remember. To remind everyone that war ends when we choose to end it."
"Will it last forever?"
